With injuries cutting down the Philadelphia roster, Mike Gossner decided to forfeit the championship game, giving Altoona their second consecutive regional championship. The biggest accomplishment for Altoona's Johnston Realty, however, was in defeating the six-time defending AAABA National Champions Baltimore. That win eliminated Baltimore from the regional and qualified Philadelphia for the national tournament in Johnstown. The Philly Bandits had defeated Baltimore on the opening day. Maryland State, playing short-handed all weekend, was quickly eliminated in 2 mercy-rule games.
