Rams win in Livonia
July 24, 2012 - The Michigan Rams will once again represent the Livonia franchise after winning their playoff game against defending champion Michigan Cobras 5-4 on Monday night. The Rams forced the one-game playoff by sweeping a double-header against the Cobras 4-3 and 6-2 on Saturday, giving both teams 18-6-1 records in their 22-and-under league. The Michigan Red Sox, who were also AAABA-eligible this season, finished 11-24.
The Rams, led by manager Rick Berryman, were the Livonia representative from 2004 through 2009 and compiled a record of 10-12 with 3 top-8 finishes. In 2010, the Rams lost out to Coach's Corner, and were again defeated in 2011 by newcomer Michigan Cobras. The Cobras finished 3rd in last year's national tournament.
The Rams advance to the 3-team Zanesville Regional this Saturday where they will face Buffalo at noon. The winner plays host Zanesville at 3pm and the losers from those two games meet at 7pm. The winner of game 2 and game 3 then meet on Sunday at noon for the championship, with a 5th game played at 3pm if necessary. All games are scheduled for Gant Municipal Stadium.
