2011 Altoona Greater City League Schedule Released
May 04, 2011 - After several summers of being the lone AAABA team in the Mountain City, Johnston Realty was joined by Ketrow Insurance in 2010. This year, two more AAABA teams will compete for the right to represent Altoona in the 67th annual national tournament.
The Altoona Greater City League consists of nine total teams, four of which are AAABA-eligible. The four 20U teams--Johnston Realty, Ketrow Insurance, Red Bull, and Logan Beverage--will compete in a 24-game schedule, with 2 games against each team in the AGCL including non-AAABA teams. The winner of the AAABA division regular season will be the representative for Altoona. There will be no playoff for the AAABA teams, however the remaining five teams will compete in a championship for the city league.
In addition to the sixteen intracity games, the teams from Altoona will also play 8 games against teams from the neighboring Johnstown City League. The four Johnstown teams--Delweld, Martella's Pharmacy, Roxberry Creamery, and Berkley Hills Renegades--are competing for the right to represent the Johnstown entry in the national tournament. The Johnstown teams will host four games at either Point Stadium or Roxbury Park, and the Altoona teams will host three games in Lilly and one game at Blair County Ballpark, home of the Pittsburgh Pirate's AA affiliate Altoona Curve.
